NYPG JUNIOR SHOWCASE 2020
ELIGIBILITY: Students up to age 18 can enter. All levels and nationalities are welcome. A performance video is required for consideration. Priority is given to students studying with a teacher who is registered as a NYPG professional member. Click here to learn more about Professional Membership with NYPG.
CONSENT FORMS: Consent forms need to be signed by the teacher and the parent/guardian. Forms can be downloaded, printed and sent by email attachment to email@example.com. Forms can be downloaded at the bottom of the page.
REPERTOIRE: Solo, four-hand duet and instrumental duo eligible. Duos such as pianist/singer and pianist/instrumentalists are also accepted. A duo team is treated as a single entity like a solo performer. Memorization is not required but recommended for solo pianists. Memorization of a piece allows performers to perform with confidence, security and a greater freedom of expression.
PIECE LENGTH: Limited to 10 minutes per piece. Special consideration will be given based on need.
NUMBER OF PIECES: Performers can list up to three pieces. If you wish to know if the piece selection(s) is acceptable, you can send an email to, firstname.lastname@example.org under the subject, 'NYPG Junior Showcase'.
PIECE SELECTION CRITERIA: Pieces will be selected based on the quality of performance through the video submission, livestream/live audition and an overview of the repertoire submitted. Priority is also given to memorized pieces at the time of video submission. NYPG Junior Showcase aims for a diverse and balanced program representing a variety of styles and composers.
PERFORMANCE SAMPLE: At least one performance sample from the list is required for consideration. Please note that an application is not complete without a performance sample. We are accepting YouTube video format only.
LIVESTREAM AUDITION: Selected applicants may be scheduled to perform live through livestream. Livestream audition will be scheduled individually.
Livestream Audition I: September to December (priority given)
Livestream Audition II for Late Registrations: January to March
PERFORMER NOTIFICATION: Applicants will be notified by email within a week after the livestream audition whether the applicant is selected to perform.
PERFORMER COMMITMENT CONTRACT/PERFORMER RESERVATION DEPOSIT: In order to secure a spot in the showcase, a performer commitment contract and 50% deposit will be due. Once a performer commitment contract and deposit is received, a performer spot is confirmed and secured for the applicant. Performer deposit is applied towards the performer fee. Performer deposit is non-refundable.
PERFORMER FEE BALANCE: A performer fee balance is due at least three months prior to the concert. If a balance is not received, performers may lose a spot in the showcase.
PERFORMER FEE: Performer fee will include a fixed number of complimentary tickets in addition to one free dress rehearsal.
AWARD: All performers will be given a 'Certificate of Participation Award' at the end of the concert.
